Fire breaks out at New Autonagar in Vijayawada

A major fire broke out in a small manufacturing unit at New Autonagar on the Enikepadu-Tadigadapa 100 feet road near Enikepadu. The fire, originating from an air cooler manufacturing unit spread to nearby industries in no time, triggering panic among local people.

Thick clouds of smoke billowed into the sky and was seen from areas that are more than five kilometres away from the spot. Fire department, which received a complaint at 11.30 a.m, rushed over 12 fire tenders from stations in Krishna and Guntur districts to the spot.

Officials said no casualties were reported and the source of the fire is yet to be ascertained. People in the nearby industries and residences were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Andhra Pradesh Fire Director-General K. Satyanarayana, district Collector B. Lakshmikantham, Joint Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata and other officials are supervising the fire-fighting operation.
