Nina Vaskunlahti, Finland Ambassador to India, on Tuesday launched the 11th production unit of Lindstrom India, a subsidiary of the Lindstrom Group headquartered in Finland, near the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC), about 50 km from here.

She also took part in the decennial celebrations of Lindstrom India’s launch of the first unit in Chennai in 2007. Lindstrom, a Finnish multinational specialising in supplying uniforms with timely laundry service, was set up in Helsinki in 1848.

Lindstrom’s Indian arm is the leading organised workwear company in India.

It has invested ₹10 crore in the Visakhapatnam unit.

Ms. Vaskunlahti told The Hindu that Lindstrom would cater to the pharmaceutical, food processing, retail, automotive, engineering, seafood processing and electronics units in Visakhapatnam, the largest industrial city in Andhra Pradesh.

She said the firm was known for adopting environment-friendly measures like water recycling and judicious use of chemicals in washing uniforms in most hygienic way and delivering to the factory premises on a regular basis.

The unit has already secured annual contract from 25 firms, mostly pharmaceutical factories located at JNPC and its neighbourhood.

Lindstrom India Managing Director Anupam Chakrabarty said they had excelled in workwear rental offers service with 360 degrees management system.

At present, the company was servicing 300,000 workers, which would be doubled in the next three years, he said.

He said all over India they were serving 500 pharma and 300 food companies with a turnover of €330 million.This would go up to €500 million by 2020.

The local unit now engages 30 workers which will go up to 100 in the next two to three months.

Job opportunities

There would also be lot of job opportunities in the delivery of uniforms to various clients at their workplace.
