Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) central committee member Subodh Mitra on Tuesday stressed the need for waging a concrete struggle against imperialism.

Mr. Mitra was addressing a public meeting organised by the CPI(ML) as part of the commemoration of the centenary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, at the Gymkhana Grounds.

Mr. Mitra, who retold the October Revolution pulled off by the Bolsheviks and Vladimir Lenin a century ago, said even today imperialists were trying to wage war and hatch conspiracies against the socialist ideology. “On the other hand, socialism is also advancing and we have to wage ideological struggle and be vigilant. We have to build a Communist party taking lessons from the Russian revolution and Lenin’s concept of the party and wage concrete struggle,” he said. “Today the ruling class and imperialists are very active and we are forced to live in a crisis-driven period. Taking lessons from the Russian revolution is important now and we have to surge ahead to protect socialism.”

Members of the CPI(ML) central committee Arvind Sinha, Alok Mukherjee, P. Jaswanth Rao, Gurram Vijay Kumar, general secretary Viswam and others were present. The party activists earlier took out a rally from the Lenin Centre to the public meeting venue.
