A desire to be part of the growth history of Andhra Pradesh has brought Ramanaidu Suryadevara (Surya) back to the city of Vijayawada where he has set up Biryanis and More…!

A ritzy restaurant that has come up in the heart of the city on Bandar Road, Biryanis and More is the first Indian chapter of the chain of restaurants Mr. Surya operates in the US.

Bifurcation of the State has helped spark a tremendous restaurant boom in this region attracting NRIs like Mr. Surya to set up units here. “It has been a long-pending plan to start operating here in my native soil. The frenzied pace of activity post-bifurcation enticed me to the city,” he says.

The restaurateur hails from Sekuru village near Tenali in Krishna district and migrated to the US a decade ago. What started in 2013 as a humble single-restaurant business at Dallas, soon multiplied to make its presence felt in 20 cities of North American continent with an annual turnover of over Rs. 200 crore.

“I have plans to open 50 more branches across India in the next one year besides making inroads in Qatar and Dubai. The local Biryani… unit is a fusion restaurant of exotic Indian and Mexican cuisines which I am sure will cater to the growing food-related needs of the vibrant city with a specialist blend of authentic and unique flavours,” he says.

Mr. Surya foresees unparallel levels of all-round growth in the capital regions of Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri and other adjoining areas in the next few years.

“We are fully geared up to meet the expectations of the enlightened consumer with over 15 different varieties of authentic biryanis along with fusion biryanis with world cuisines. Selective and unique cooking methods, hand-picked quality ingredients, excellent presentation and extraordinary service will make dining experience at Biryanis… a memorable one,” he promises.

About future plans, he says the aim is to provide employment to both the privileged and under-privileged communities. “Our goal is to provide direct and indirect employment to over 1,000 people in the next one year,” he says.

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas will inaugurate the restaurant on Sunday while local MP Kesineni Nani, MLAs Gadde Rammohan and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and, Mayor Koneru Sridhar will grace the occasion.
