At very dawn, significant number of Christians gathered at St. Peter's Cathedral at Tarapeta here on Wednesday. Reciting verses from Bible, they began their procession christened as ‘Walk for Christ.’

The Walk was organised by St. Peter's Cathedral, Diocese of Vijayawada. Christians carrying 'cross' in their hands took part in the walk that passed through main roads in the city before culminating at Gunadala Mary Matha shrine.

Around 7,000 participants, recited verses from Bible, and walked around the city. One should have a complete faith in the Lord to achieve anything in life, they said.

Addressing the gathering, Cathedral Fr. Lamu Jaya Raju said, “It has been proved that you live in the faith of Christ, as you have taken part in this rally.”

The youth should act as change makers of the society through their service to the community and society, he said.

The walk was organised to share the pain of Jesus who walked in streets of Jerusalem carrying cross. The walk marked the end of 40-days fasting, observed as part of passion days, he explained.

Chancellor Fr. J. John Raju celebrated holy mass, and prayed for world peace and prosperity.

Priests of different Parishes took part in the walk under the leadership of Cathedral Fr, Lamu Jaya Raju.
