Expert aerobic trainer’s tips for healthy life

A disciplined lifestyle along with regular meditation will help one lead a happy and healthy life, according to aerobic expert Dinaz Vervatwala here on Saturday.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Ms. Dinaz, who is in city to perform aerobic exercises for 16 hours non-stop at Siddhartha Arts and Science College from Sunday early morning 3 am, said the indiscriminate intake of junk food was the main reason for the obesity especially among children. “Our own chawal, roti and dal are far healthier than the pizzas and burgers. It is the responsibility of the parents to serve at least 80 per cent of traditional food to their wards everyday,” she felt.

Dinaz, who practices and preaches aerobics for over 17 years, weighs just 48 kilo grams and she is all set to break her own Limca record of 12 hours of non-strop performance which she achieved in Hyderabad. “I am worried about the city’s humid conditions. I have taken the necessary precautions. I underwent rigorous cardio and other medical tests as the duration of the performance is pretty long. I will be burning as many as 8,000 calories in my 16-hour-long exertion,” she said. Dinaz, who is visiting Vijayawada for the fourth time, felt the city was a warm and friendly one. “I hope the fitness-crazy Vijayawadians would come in good number on Sunday to cheer and encourage me in achieving my goal,” she said.

Dinaz, as per the guidelines of Guinness World Record, will eat and drink while performing. “During every break, the doctors will conduct cardio tests as a measure of precaution.”

The expert aerobic trainer said this attempt was in preparation to attempt the 26-hour-long non-stop aerobics record for Guinness world aerobics, which is in the name of a Spaniard. “I will attempt for the world record on January 9 and 10 in 2010 and I will be the first woman in the world to do so.”

She would practise hard in the coming months and she is assisted by a team of special sports medical doctors, dieticians and physiotherapists. “I will take specialised diet and different types of health and sports drinks to achieve the goal,” she said.
