District Collector V.N Vishnu on Monday urged the political parties to expedite nomination of Booth Level Agents (BLA).
Speaking at a meeting on voter enrolment held in his chambers with representatives of various parties, Mr. Vishnu said so far 1,35,791 applications have been received as part of claims and objections and added that they would be settled before December 17. He said assistance of BLAs was essential in solving the claims and objections from the applicants.
As per the Census 2011, the population of the district is 48,89,230, including 30,92,723 voters. All of them have been issued voter identity cards. The district has 3,650 polling booths, the Collector said and added that booth level agents should be nominated at the earliest.
The Collector said that Telugu Desam has nominated Damacharla Srinivasa Rao, while the BJP has nominated V. Kripa Rao as the BLAs in the town.
Joint Collector N. Yuvaraj, Revenue Divisional Officers, S. Dilli Rao (Guntur), Arun Babu (Narsaraopet), Additional Commissioner, GMC, P. Srinivasulu, Mannava Subba Rao (TDP), A. Anjaneyulu (Congress), G. Samuel (BSP), and Bhavanarayana of CPI(M) were present.
