The Telugu version of the international bestseller ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ was released by Profit Shoe Company Managing Director B.S. Koteswarara Rao.

The book, titled “Mruthyunjayulu” was released at the inauguration of the week-long book exhibition of New Student Book Centre, here on Monday. It takes a lot of hard work to translate a book into another language, said Mr. Koteswara Rao. He appreciated the hard work of publishers and also the management of New Student Book Centre. Without their dedication many people would have missed out on reading a great book, he said.

The Immortals of Meluha was the first novel of the Shiva trilogy series by Amish Tripathi. The story, set in the land of Meluha, begins with the arrival of the Tibetan tribal Shiva. Shiva decides to help the Meluhans in their war against the Chandravanshis, who had joined forces with a cursed group called Nagas. However, in his journey and the resulting fight that ensues, Shiva learns how his choices actually reflected who he aspires to be and how it led to dire consequences.

It is the responsibility of the Government to ensure good books reach the common man, said Andhra Pradesh Grandhalaya Chairman Turlapaty Kutumba Rao. But private publishers have taken over the duty and they have to be appreciated for their efforts, he said.

A week-long book exhibition was inaugurated by him to celebrate the National Book Week. The exhibition will have only Telugu books for sale, said New Student Book Centre Proprietor C. Babjee. All the books will be sold at a 10 per cent discounted price, he added. The book exhibition will be open till November 20.
