Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu made surprise visits and inspected several ongoing works on Wednesday. He concentrated on encroachments at various places and those on the canal bunds/drains.
Mr. Ravi Babu along with public health, planning, engineering and sanitation staff visited Brahmananda Reddy and Gulamohiuddin Nagar in the sixth division and interacted with the residents. He directed the officials to remove encroachments along the drain and remove silt. He asked the public to cooperate with the staff to keep the city clean.
The commissioner instructed the staff to impose penalty on those who rear cattle in residential areas. The officials should visit the houses and see that all the residents take underground drainage connections, he added. He inspected the development works in Ajith Singh Nagar and asked the authorities to speed up the works. He also enquired about Christian Kalyana Mandapam which was ready to be inaugurated in the N.S.C Bose Nagar.
The Municipal Commissioner's concern was over the slow pace of housing works. He directed the contractor and the officials to deploy more work force and complete them as early as possible. Mr. Ravi Babu asked the staff about ground levelling works in the locality with garbage and enquired about construction of fish market and shopping complex for cobblers.
Later, speaking to the officials, the Commissioner asked them to constitute ward-level committees in all divisions and try to keep the city clean.
He asked the staff to sensitize the residents on the need for maintaining cleanliness. Additional health officer Dr.Srinivas Rao and other officials accompanied the Commissioner.
