While the flood caused by Budamerru in the colonies along its banks in Vijayawada is still the same, the waters of the rivulet have receded in Jakkampudi Housing colony by about one foot.

Meanwhile, Mahalakshmi (36), a resident of Rotarynagar, was found dead in the flood water that was about 2 feet deep in front of her house. Family members said Mahalakshmi suffered from epilepsy and she had fallen into the water after suffering a fit and drowned. There was no change in the flood water that entered Rotary Nagar, Vijayadurganagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Urmilanagar, Indranayak Nagar, Jojinagar, Brahmaiahnagar, Kebela area, K.L.Rao Nagar, Municipal Employees Colony and Milk Project area. Revenue Divisional Officer S. Venkata Rao said enumeration of houses that were damaged by the rains would be taken up from Wednesday. He said only the staff and officers of the Revenue Department would be pressed into service for enumeration of damaged houses.

He said the damaged houses should be classified into totally damaged, severely damaged, and partially damaged houses. The income and the social status of the house owners should also be recorded, he said.
