It was the perfect support given by Malayalee Association of Vijayawada to a group of differently abled persons by encouraging an art they had mastered under the banner Ability Unlimited Foundation, New Delhi.
The group of students that attempted Guinness World Record, inspired by their Guru Syed Sallauddin Pasha, performed at the Vijayawada Club on the banks of the Krishna and left the audience awe-struck on Sunday evening. From martial arts, yogic postures to Bharatnatyam, Bhagawad Gita to Salsa – they demonstrated everything with ease seated in their wheelchairs and there were normal dancers finding it difficult to pace with them or match them in their own art.
Overwhelming response for the charity show that was organised for a good cause, enthused the performers, who had turned experts by now giving shows all over the country. Credit of giving wings to the differently-abled goes to Ability Unlimited founder -- choreographer Pasha and his concept of therapeutic theatre that uses art as a vehicle to transform and heal society. “What persons with disabilities lack is not talent, but the opportunities and circumstances to expose the talents with which they are abundantly endowed with,” says Pasha.
People sat through the performance that began at around 6 p.m. Colourful dresses and right mix of theatrical techniques made the show loveable.
