Ensure timely release of funds from Centre, Naidu tells MPs

April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed the party MPs to coordinate with the Ministries and officials concerned of the Union government to ensure adequate and timely release of funds under various Centrally sponsored schemes.

The TDP president wanted the party MPs to focus on Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development departments which account for a major share of the Central government grants. The MPs should ensure that details of the schemes including the amounts were prepared constituency wise so that the officials of the State government could take up the matter with the concerned Union Ministry for securing timely release of funds.

Mr. Naidu chaired the meeting of the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party convened in New Delhi on Tuesday where he discussed the key issues that should be taken up during the ongoing session of Parliament. He is understood to have expressed concern over the delay in release of funds for certain schemes and wanted the MPs to concentrate on coordinating with the Ministries concerned for securing timely release of funds.

Supports Land Bill

The TDP president extended his party’s support to the proposed amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill claiming that the Bill was not against farmers as was being propagated by some parties. The amendments provided for adequate compensation to farmers and other affected sections and the MPs should support them as and when the issue came up in the Parliament. Mr. Naidu expressed concern over the way some parties were trying to portray the Seshachalam encounter in which 20 red sander smugglers were killed as an issue between the two governments. The incident strictly pertained to police and red sanders smugglers and was not an issue between the governments of the two States.
