Member of Legislative Council and AITUC State council president P.J. Chandrashekara Rao has appealed to the Government to implement Minimum Wages (MW) Act for all gas delivery boys in the State.
Speaking at the first-ever State level A.P. LPG Agencies Employees and Workers Union meeting here on Sunday, the MLC said that the gas supply workers were facing severe hardships due to low salaries and the Government should take measures for paying wages as per the Act.
Mr. Rao assured the workers of discussing the problems of the gas distributors and the workers problems with Labour and Civil Supplies departments and the gas supplying companies to extend all support in providing benefits from the Government.
Krishna District Dealers Association president N. Subba Rao has urged the Government to add service tax along with the cylinder cost, which will benefit the delivery workers.
The association leaders said that a few private gas companies are about to enter into the market, and asked the supplying boys to provide quality services to the customers.
They also appealed to the boys to learn on checking washer and pin of the cylinder valve which will prevent accidents.
The A.P. LPG Agencies Employees and Workers Union co-convenor K. Durga Rao presided over the programme.
The AITUC State council working president T. Narasimhan, convenor S. Balraj, other leaders CH. Girija Shivshankar Varaprasad, Ch.V. Rama Rao, and T.V. Ramanamurthy spoke.
