Electricity contract workers warn of strike from tomorrow

December 15, 2014 12:42 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:52 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Contract Workers’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) has warned of a flash strike from December 15 if the government did not scrap the third party contract system in power utilities.

JAC co-convener R. Praveen said if the govt. continued to ignore its promises, workers would go on strike, as they would be left with no other option to protect their interests.

The JAC is organising a meeting of workers from all 13 districts at Gymkhana grounds here on December 15.

Mr. Praveen warned that all the three arms of the power sector – generation, transmission and distribution – would be crippled if the workers go on strike.
