The students of RVR & JC College of Engineering have made it yet again at the Hybrid Vehicle Challenge and Go Kart Challenge at the SAE India E-Baja event held at Indore recently.

The Electric All Terrain vehicle designed by students of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical departments has won the fourth prize in the overall championship at the All India event. The Falcon Racers ATV has won the prize in the Endurance category.

The zero pollution emission ATV is powered by 48 volts battery with a HP of 110 amp-hour and 4.5 brushless DC motor and can attain a maximum speed of 60 km per hour. It has a ground clearance of 11.5 inches and can pull load up to one tonne. The vehicle comes with double wishbone suspension in the front wheel and a trailing arm suspension in the rear.

Top placements

Students who took part in the competition were later selected by top automobile companies. R. Lakshmi Pratusha was selected by Varroc and K. Siddha Amruth got placed in General Motors while B. Ravi Teja got selected with the highest pay package of ₹13.6 lakh per annum by Automotive Research Association of India.

Earlier this year, the college students won the first place in the Endurance category at Student Kart Design Challenge, organised by Society of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers (SAME) at Hasten Go Karting, Gurram guda, Hyderabad.

Principal of the college Kota Srinivasu, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering K. Ravindra and professor NVV Sudhir congratulated the students.
