Electoral rolls' revision from October 1

The District administration will take up comprehensive revision of voters' list from October 1. The people who complete 18 years of age as on January 1, 2012, were eligible to enrol as voters, according to Joint Collector Gaurav Uppal.

Mr. Uppal, addressing a meeting with representatives of political parties here on Thursday, said that draft voters list would be published on October 1 following state and central election commissions directions. The enrolment of new voters and corrections of voters' names and addresses would be taken up from October 1 to November 1. The people who went abroad on education and temporary employment purpose could enrol as overseas voters, if they have not taken citizenship there. The grama sabhas would be conducted on October 8 and 11 to verify the voters list, he said.

A special campaign with agents of polling booths of various political parties would be taken up on October 9, 16 and 23. Claims and objections could be made on those days. The voters list would be updated from December 1 to 31, and supplementary list would be published. A final voters list would be published on January 5, he said.

A door to door verification of voters' details would be taken up from August 11 to September 10. A control room with a number 08672 22399 would be launched to receive complaints, he said.
