Eight-year-old boy kidnapped, killed

An 8-year-old boy was killed after he was kidnapped by an auto driver in an incident which took place at Mylavolu village in Machavaram mandal near Piduguralla in Guntur District.

The accused, Vinukonda Tirupathi Rao, was arrested by the police and reportedly confessed having strangulated the boy to death.

The boy was abducted by the auto driver on Saturday evening while playing in front of his grandfather's house at Pillutla village in Machavaram mandal. The driver was known to boy's grandfather Atukuri Krishnamurthy and used to bring provisions to his shop.

Later, the auto driver called up Mr. Krishnamurthy and demanded a ransom of Rs.15 lakh.

A police complaint was filed on Sunday afternoon by the boy's father. Sensing that he could be nabbed by the police, the man killed the boy and hid the body in his house. Later, he was nabbed by the police.
