Fire broke out in tyre rebuttoning shops located at Bandar Locks area on Tuesday midnight. No casualty was reported in the accident.

On information, fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames after five hours. Thick smoke billowed from flames, creating panic in the areas.

“We received a phone call to Fire Control Room at 12.30 a.m. on the fire accident. Four fire tenders from Autonagar, Vijayawada and Singh Nagar rushed to the spot and put out flames at 5.30 a.m. on Wednesday,” said District Fire Officer (DFO) V. Srinivas.

“As many tyres are burnt in the shops, it has become hard to control fire and we used foam and water to put out the flames. Property worth about Rs.10 lakh was damaged in the mishap and the fire personnel are investigating the cause of fire,” said the DFO.
