Divisional Railway Manager Anurag said on Thursday that it was a Constitutional obligation to use Hindi as official language and all officers and staff of Vijayawada Railway division should work in Hindi to the extent possible by using simple words.

He was speaking after presenting Rajabhasha awards to 60 officers and 430 employees for 2009-10 at a function held at the Railway Institute.

Model division

Expressing happiness on getting Acharya Raghuveer shield at the Railway Board-level as ‘model division' in ‘C' region and the General Manager's ‘Rajbhasha Efficiency Shield', Mr. Anurag said though Vijayawada fell in ‘C' region as per linguistic categorisation, there was a conducive atmosphere for implementing Hindi as Rajbhasha.

The employees of the division should develop a mind for working in Hindi on computers.

Additional Divisional Railway Manager B. Jayaraj commended the efforts of all the departments due to which the division remained on top in implementation of Rajbhasha in the zone. Rajbhasha Adhikari S. Chiranjeevi said that the division surpassed the targets fixed for correspondence, notings and the like in Hindi. During the year, six mini Hindi workshops, birth anniversaries of famous Hindi poets and eight seminars in Hindi on technical subjects of various departments were conducted.

Training was being imparted on use of Hindi keyboard for the staff working on computers.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Venkateswara Rao and others participated in the function.

A playlet in Hindi on the life and message of poet Kabir Das presented by students of Railway High School was highlight of the function.
