The driver of a police jeep was killed and the Sub-Inspector of Palakayatippa marine police station was injured when the vehicle overturned near Kankipadu in Krishna district late on Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Venkata Krishna (33), a native of Remmanapudi village in Pamarru mandal. The SI, Ramana Reddy, sustained injuries and his condition was said to be stable, the Kankipadu police said.
The jeep overturned into the sugarcane fields at Podduturu village when the driver lost control while trying to avoid collision with an oncoming lorry.
