Drive to promote sand walking

A cement concrete road will be laid from the Krishna Left flood bank to the river beach near Kanakadurgamma varadhi for the convenience of sand walkers, Tadepalli municipal commissioner Mathews said.

Participating in the morning walkers' convention conducted by Krishnaveni Arogya Sadhan at Vijayawada Club, Tadepalli, the municipal commissioner sanctioned the cement concrete road at the request of the sand walkers.

Scores of morning walkers belonging to different clubs in the city participated in the sand walking programme conducted on the occasion. Members of the Vijayawada Laughing Club participated in the sand walking programme.

Former MP Gadde Ramamohan said that walking was one of his favourite activities. The matinee idol-turned politician N.T.Rama Rao also was very fond of walking, he said. Walking in the morning was compulsory for him notwithstanding where he was, Mr Ramamohan said.

Krishnaveni Arogya Sadhan secretary Koneru Lakshman Kumar, Vijayawada Club secretary K.V.D.Prasad and treasurer G.Sriram and others participated in the programme.
