BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav exhorted the party cadres to dispel the doubts on special category status expressed by the people of Andhra Pradesh by making the facts clear to them. The message that BJP has no intention to renege on its commitments has to be driven home lest the Opposition should derive political mileage out of the emotive issue, he said.
Addressing a meeting on the party’s Maha Sampark Abhiyan here on Saturday, Mr. Madhav said while reaching out to masses during the membership drive, BJP cadres should elicit public opinion on the steps taken for development of the State and give the feedback to party’s top brass to chart the future course of action.
The fact that the Central government has announced a financial package for A.P. and was exploring other means of helping the State has to be emphasised, he said.
Mr. Madhav further wanted party cadres to thwart false propaganda that Opposition parties have unleashed against the Land Acquisition Bill by explaining the safeguards it contained for farmers.
On Maha Sampark Abhiyan (mass contact programme) Mr. Madhav suggested to the campaign managers to seek blessings of one crore Telugu people during the three month long campaign.
Former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari exuded confidence that the party would emerge as a strong force by 2019.
Later, BJP national organising general secretary Santosh Ji gave a presentation on the Maha Sampark Abhiyan.
Party State President K. Haribabu, MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, Ministers Kamineni Srinivasa Rao and P. Manikyala Rao, former Ministers Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Kanna Lakshminarayana were among those present.
