The damage fees being levied upon power consumers is solely to create awareness about power shortage among people and not for selfish needs of the company, APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Vidya Sagar Reddy has said.
At a meeting with various local organisations and industrialists on Wednesday, he received a petition about their problems. Speaking on the occasion, he admitted that the present rules and regulations of power distribution were indeed a little confusing.
The problem had already been discussed at the meetings conducted recently in Tirupati and we were trying to resolve them, he said.
In order to create awareness among users about the rules and regulations of power consumption, awareness meetings would be conducted zone-wise from January, he said.
Officers had already been briefed about the new regulations and billings information, he said.
The discom was debt ridden so the users must try to understand our financial difficulties, he said. Issues brought to our notice by users such as penal charges would be looked into as soon as possible, he added.
Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mutthavarapu Murali Krishna and secretary Chukkapalli Prasad were among those who met the Managing Director.
