Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL) chairman and Managing Director H.Y. Dora will inaugurate an Any Time Payment (ATP) machine for bills on the premises of the SPDCL Chief Engineer’s Office near Swaraj Maidan during his visit to the city on Tuesday.
Speaking to The Hindu , Chief Engineer K. Raja Bapaiah said that after Tirupati, the headquarters of the SPDCL, Vijayawada, was the second city in the jurisdiction of the discom to get the ATP machine.
Giving details about the machine, Mr. Bapaiah said that customers could make payments round-the-clock at the ATP.
All that was required for the customer was to key in the bill number and the amount to be paid would flash on the screen. The ATP would accept a maximum of 40 currency notes per bill. “If the bill is Rs.39,000 the customer can make payment by feeding 39 thousand rupee notes,” he explained.
The bill amount would be corrected to a round figure and the excess or deficit paid would be adjusted in the next bill.
The CMD would also inaugurate the first completely indoor sub-station of 2X8MvA capacity in Krishna district near Jemmichettu Centre. While the cost of an outdoor sub-station of the same capacity was Rs.1.5 crore, the cost of the indoor sub-station was Rs.3.70 crore. The indoor sub-stations were, however, a lot more compact occupying very little space, the Chief Engineer said.
Inauguration of indoor sub-stationThe power distribution company already had a “semi-indoor” sub-station in the city near the State Guest House, but this was the first totally indoor sub-station in the district.
After inaugurating the ATP and indoor sub-station, the CMD would then conduct a review meeting in the afternoon.
InteractionHe would participate in an interaction session with High Tension power consumers from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Institutions of Engineers, Dr. K.L. Rao Bhavan, Mr Bapaiah said.
