Diamond expo gets under way

Kirtilal Jewellers, the Coimbatore-headquartered manufacturer, retailer and exporter of diamond and gold jewellery, captivated the town elites by starting a two-day exhibition of rich collection of diamond-studded and gold jewellery on Friday.

A unique set costing Rs. 55 lakhs and comprising diamond-studded golden belt, necklace and bangle, was the cynosure of all eyes.

Six artisans from Bengal intricately worked on the set for over six months. Seventeen carats of diamond and 1/2 kg gold was to make it, Kirtilal Vijayawada unit head G.K. Gopalakrishna told reporters here.

He said that one more branch would be opened in Visakhapatnam this year, taking the number of showrooms in the State to three, including the ones in Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

A rich collection of antique jewels worn by kings and queens in the past, was also on display so also Mumbai and Kolkata design gold jewellery, he said, adding “we offer gold jewellery at Chennai rates, Rs. 20 less per gram than the local market rate''.

“Our diamond and gold jewellery comes with a guarantee. We have a tie up with New India Assurance company. We pay insurance premium for the first year for our customers buying jewels worth more than Rs. 25,000''.
