Mylavaram MLA and Telugu Desam Party district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has kick started a padayatra in support of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘vasthunna meekosam’ walkathon, at Gollapudi near here.

The Telugu Desam Polit Bureau member K. Yerran Naidu and others took part in the first day of padayatra on Monday. They garlanded NTR statue, offered prayers at Saibaba temple and Dargah and interacted with the people.

Congress lambasted

The speakers lambasted the Congress party, State and Central Governments. They alleged that both the governments were pursuing the policies that had widespread ramifications and affect the common man. The cap on subsidised LPG cylinder was a bolt from the blue for middle class and the poor. The AICC president Sonia Gandhi had promised that nine subsidised cylinders would be supplied in Congress-ruled states, but Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy asserted that it would be applicable only for Deepam connections.

Mr. Naidu said that the Backward Classes (BCs) got a raw deal under the Congress rule, more particularly during SR tenure. The Congress government grabbed the lands of BCs for the sake of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in each and every district. They were denied their genuine share in the recent cabinet expansion also, he said.

The TDP president was on walkathon to understand the problems of the people, who were extending immense and overwhelming support. The padayatra was like a prabhanjanam now. It would turn into cyclone when it reaches Krishna district, and become a tsunami in Srikakulam district, he observed.

Legislators Y.V.B. Rajendra Prasad, and Chigurupati Varaprasad, Nandigama MLA Tangirala Prabhakar, TDP State general secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, TDP Urban president Vallabhaneni Vamsi,Vijayawada (West) incharge Buddha Venkanna, Gudivada Municipality former chairman Lankadasari Prasad and others were present.
