Leaders of Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee (JAC) gave a call on Wednesday to develop Seemandhra as a role model for other States.
Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, JAC chairman Lavu Rattaiah lauded the role of students, employees, businessmen, women’s associations and political parties who fought relentlessly to keep the State united. They have not been defeated, but were cheated, he said.
At least now the public should elect the right persons and fight to get industries, education and research institutions, courts, infrastructure and other facilities for Andhra region, said Mr. Rattaiah. He urged the people of Telangana to maintain a good relationship with Andhra and Rayalaseema people for all-round development.
Former MLC Rayapati Srinivas said it was unfortunate that the Centre had ignored the agitations and went ahead with carving out a separate State. He thanked the educational institutions, doctors, APSRTC staff, NGOS, media and the political parties for continuing the agitation for about 200 days.
JAC convener Samuel said that bifurcation was politically motivated, but the people of Telangana and Seemandhra were not separated mentally. JAC secretary P. Narasimha Rao, TDP leader Mannava Subba Rao and others spoke.
