The decks for Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Test (PGMET)-2015 have been cleared with the Andhra Pradesh government giving its confirmation to NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) to go ahead with the joint examination. The Telangana government has given its go ahead in November and its A.P. counterpart accorded permission to NTRUHS to conduct the examination on December 30 through G.O M.S No. 162.
The onus is now on NTRUHS to fix a date for the test which was planned to be administered online in the first week of March. NTRUHS had proposed to the governments to hold the test online by citing the successful conduct of the super-specialty entrance test and M.Sc (nursing) in the online mode.
It started making arrangements (like working out the seat matrix and preparing the question papers) for conducting the PGMET too online at designated centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and was waiting for the A.P government’s nod which was delayed due to procedural issues, according to official sources. The governments had no disagreement on conducting the test as a joint examination was anticipated in some quarters. NTRUHS had received the A.P government’s nod three days ago and the Registrar has since been seized of the matter.
The immediate task is to identify the agency which can administer the test online. In fact, the NTRUHS has requested government’s permission to conduct all entrance tests including the PGMET online from the current year (2015).
