The giving of the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Bank (APCOB) chairman post to two Telangana DCCB presidents by rotation and not KDCCB president Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao came as a shock to Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) presidents of Krishna district.
It has been a tradition for the Krishna District Cooperative Central Bank (KDCCB) president to become chairman of the APCOB.
Former Minister and KDCCB president Vasantha Nageswara Rao was APCOB chairman for the past five years. Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao (brother of late ZP chairman Pinnamaneni Koteswara Rao) and TDP leader Tondepu Dasaradha Jannardhan who were also KDCCB presidents went on to hold the post of APCOB chief for more then one term.
PACS presidents cutting across party lines extended support to former Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao because he would become APCOB chairman. While the election of Mr Venkateswara Rao was not on party lines the decision to give two Telangana leaders the APCOB chief post by rotation has irked many a PACS president in the district.
When a decision was made to give the post two leaders by rotation the Congress should have given chance to DCCB president from Seemandhra also, the PACS presidents felt.
A senior Congress leader from the Krishna said that there was no opposition from Seemandhra leaders for the decision of the party high command.
“They are not in the fighting mood, they are in the sacrificing mood,” he said.
He, however, hoped that the high command would give the Markfed chairman post to Krishna DCMS president Kanchi Rama Rao.
Giving the chief posts by rotation for DCCB and DCMS presidents of Telangana and Seemandhra by rotation would have been a better solution to the problem, he said.
