Hailing the Supreme Court stay order on the AP High Court verdict on Tsundur massacre case, victims and dalit activists said that the order had vindicated their 23-year struggle for justice.
“The SC order has vindicated our stand. Along with the State government which filed a SLP in June, we have also filed a case.We reiterate our demand that the guilty should be punished,’’ Jaladi Wilson, convener of Tsundur Dalit Victims’ Association told The Hindu .
“It has been 23 years since the dastardly incident took place and justice has continued to elude the victims. We also demand that a martyr’s memorial be constructed at `Raktha Kshetram,' with a cost of Rs.1 crore. Police also should ensure that there should be no retaliatory attacks on dailts,’’AP Dalit Maha Sabha convener Katti Padma Rao said.
The SC heard the case after a Special Leave Petition (SLP) was filed by the State government challenging the HC verdict acquitting all 56 accused in the Tsundur massacre case.
