It will highlight missionaries who contributed to development of the city
The Krishna-Godavari Diocese of Church of South India (CSI) will host a three-day ‘Mission Festival' to commemorate missionaries, who contributed a great deal to development of Vijayawada city in the bygone era. The festival will commence on Tuesday.
“We want to acknowledge the constructive role played by the missionaries in development of this city, especially in the education sector, and pay glowing tributes to them through this festival,” G. Dyvasirvadam, Bishop, CSI, Krishna-Godavari Diocese, told a press conference on Monday.
The festival would include felicitations to Minister for Secondary Education Dokka Manikya Varaprasad, CSI moderator Vasanth Kumar and office-bearers of the CSI Synod. T.D. Prasanna Kumar, evangelist from Kadapa would address a public meeting.
The festival would mainly highlight the role of Reverend John Harrison, who lived in the city for 42 years with his wife Emma.
