The Vijayawada chapter of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) has elected a new body of office-bearers for 2013-14.
The confederation members have elected Y.V. Ramana Rao as their president, C. Satish Babu and R.V. Swamy as vice-presidents, K. Rajendra as general secretary, K. Vishnuvardhana Rao and D. Rambabu as joint secretaries, K. Raghuram as treasurer, and T.R. Srinivas, V. Srinivas, G.S.R. Mohan Rao, K.V.V. Ravi Kumar, D. Siva Prasad, J.V. Subrahmanyam, C. Mahesh, and Ch. Vijaya Saradhi as executive committee members.
The Builders’ Association-Vijayawada, formed in 1992, merged with CREDAI in June 2012.
“The objective is to augment our skills and develop better national outlook, rapport with the State and Central government bodies as members in policy-making and give suggestions while framing rules and regulations of Building Bylaws and join the apex body of the all India builders’ fraternity,” CREDAI Vijayawada chapter president Ramana Rao told a press conference on Saturday.
Elaborating the origin and activities of the national-level confederation, Mr. Ramana Rao said it was established in 1999 representing over 8,800 developers through 20 States and 120 city-level member associations across the country, and in particular 18 chapters in Andhra Pradesh.
He said members of the CREDAI had self-imposed the code of conduct among the members which was self-binding. It helped the customers and relevant government authorities in selling standards like clear title, inspection of sanctions, strictly adhering to the terms and conditions laid down in the Agreement of Sale, transparency in every transaction, quality of construction, teaching the skills to various labour to improve their work skills and deliver quality work to the customer.
Mr. Ramana Rao said that it paved the way for promoting the interest of construction workers and educate them on the best practices. They also facilitated easy housing finance availability to property buyers by working in close coordination with leading housing finance institutions and banks.
He said abolition of urban land ceiling, rationalisation of stamp duty, modification of environmental impact assessment rules, and several amendments related to service tax and land acquisition policy were some of CREDAI’s initiatives.
Other members of the newly-elected body were present.
