People, as a habit, crack their fingers to relax and soothe their nerves. But, for this lad, it is an art and a pursuit to earn recognition. He can crack 100 times in just 10 seconds. In fact, he can crack more than 270 times in a just a minute.

Meet Gorigapudi Anand Babu, a native of Guntur and studying M. Tech at GMRIT College in Srikakulam district.

Four years ago, this engineering graduate noticed that he could crack his knuckles continuously without a break. Keen on making a mark he began mastering it by increasing the count gradually. In a short span of time, cracking knuckles has become a hobby and a passion for him.

Despite chides and snide remarks from parents and elders, Mr. Babu continued his pursuit in a cracking manner. “It involves pain, but I am enjoying it,” says Mr. Babu.

He practises regularly and plans to enter competitions the world over and rewrite the existing records. “My parents who used to dislike this peculiar passion, but they are now backing me to the hilt”

It was a memorable day for the lad when his college faculty and peers showered him with praises after he gave performance. “I was literally in a cracking spree by mustering 283 cracks. The college also gave me a certificate,” claims.

Mr. Babu says that he has set his eyes on Limca Book of Records, and sent a letter to the authorities for permission to perform. “I am eagerly waiting for a nod from them,” he says.
