The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) city unit organised a novel protest to highlight the burden of LPG cylinder price and steep rise in onion prices as part of ‘Porubata’ here on Saturday.

CPI (M) city secretary Ch. Babu Rao said that the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed. The government, however, was not taking any measures to control the spiralling prices. CPI (M) State Committee member V. Umamaheswara Rao flagged off the padayatra on fifth day of Porubata. CPI (M) City secretariat members Ch. Jogi Raju, Madala Venkateswara Rao, and city committee member K. Saroja were present.
