CPI(M) plans dharna for house sites

June 05, 2013 02:13 pm | Updated June 07, 2016 04:05 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Communist Party of India-Marxist CPI(M) has asserted that the poverty alleviation was possible only through distribution of lands to the poor. Another struggle for the land distribution was necessary to achieve the goal. A dharna would be organised at all mandal headquarters to mount pressure on the government to distribute the lands, the party said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, CPI(M) district secretary R. Raghu said that the party has taken up nation wide agitation for the distribution of land to the poor. The jatas were organised in April and May to create awareness among the people. As part of the agitation, dharnas would be organised at all mandal centres and memorandum would be submitted to the Tehsildars, he said.
