Members of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Communist Party of India (M) on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Trinamool Congress on Bandar Road condemning the brutal attack on CPI(M) leaders at Durgapur in West Bengal resulting in the death of two comrades.
CPI(M) district secretary R. Raghu said that the ‘hooligans' of Trinamool Congress attacked the Left party leaders in which former MLA Pradeepda, CITU all-India council member Kamal Vidhan succumbed to injuries.
He said ever since Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress came to power in West Bengal, there was systematic approach to eliminate the Left and trade union leaders. “They are targeted and later eliminated. There is no rule of law prevailing in West Bengal in Trinamool's regime,” he felt.
Mr. Raghu exhorted the supporters of Left parties and workers to join hands all over the district to stage a dharna against the present regime in West Bengal.
