CPI refutes allegations, makes counter charges

The Communist Party of India in a statement here on Tuesday said that all the 12 persons arrested in connection with the hooch tragedy in the district belonged to the Telugu Desam Party and were followers of the TDP district vice-president Vijay Babu.

The CPI district secretary Suryadevara Nageswara Rao said that the allegation made by Mr. Vijay Babu that eight of the 12 arrested belong to the CPI was totally false.

He said that the CPI leaders at a meeting here on Tuesday condemned the false statement made by the TDP leader.

He said that the people know very well who was actually behind the hooch tragedy.
