The city unit of CPI has condemned the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) move to evacuate the lessees of shops in shopping complexes and buildings for every 12 years.

CPI city secretary K. Subba Raju said the lessees would have made heavy investments as part of their future plans. But, the Corporation's decision would hamper their business plans.

The VMC should withdraw its plans, and continue hiking of rent by 33 per cent for every three years.

The businessmen and traders were already reeling under crisis due to economic slow down etc.
