The CPI(M) and the CPI on Wednesday proposed a “political alternative” to the TDP, the BJP, the Congress and the YSR Congress.

They organised a State-level political conference to invite political parties and organisations for a comprehensive social justice and people welfare. CPI(M) politburo member B. V. Raghavulu said the TDP had failed to keep the promises it made. Neither the TDP nor the YSRC was sincere on the Special Category Status, while the BJP had deceived the people on it. Many of the provisions of AP Reorganisation Act had not been implemented.

TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu suddenly found love for it after four years of alliance with the BJP. YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was not uttering a word on the atrocities against the Dalits, the adivasis and the minorities. Both Mr. Naidu and Mr. Jagan were same on all fronts except in attire, language and accent. They gave a a lease of life to the BJP, he said.

The development, social justice and welfare took a beating during the last four years. The State government was making tall claims though lagging many States in sectors like education, medical and health. The Janmabhoomi committees had become all powerful. Corruption was ruling the roost and there was no accountability. The YSRC was also no alternative to the TDP. “It is not for the CPI(M) or the CPI. We need to work for an alternative to the four parties.”

CPI(M) State secretary P.Madhu presented a political resolution supported by CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna. A series of programmes had been chalked out to garner the support for the political alternative. Parthasarathi and Madasu Gangadhar of the Jana Sena Party (JSP), Katam Nagabhushanam of the MCPI(U), Bhisetti Babji of the Lok Satta Party, V.Sundararama Raju of the Forward Bloc and others extended support. CPI national secretary D. Raja and others spoke.
