A cotton farmer allegedly committed suicide due to mounting debts caused by successive crop failure at Nanunagar Tanda, a tribal hamlet, in Karepalli mandal in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to sources, Malothu Sakku, 38, allegedly ended his life by hanging himself at his house.
Sakku reportedly took loans from a bank as well as a private moneylender for agriculture purpose.
He had spent a part of the amount on digging a borewell and purchasing an agriculture pumpset. Sakku reportedly cultivated cotton in four acres in anticipation of good rain.
However, his cotton crop withered under the impact of drought conditions and erratic power supply. He is survived by wife and three children.
