“The flyover will also ease traffic congestion on the NH-5,”

Demanding that the construction of a flyover at Benz Circle should commence immediately, activists of the Communist Party of India's city unit staged a dharna at Benz Circle on Tuesday.

Addressing the activists participating in the dharna, the party's city unit secretary K. Subba Raju said that a flyover at Benz Circle was the need of the hour for the people residing in the city, as the traffic congestion at the circle had increased tremendously in the recent past.

Motorists' nightmare

He observed that crossing the Benz Circle had become a challenge for all vehicle drivers, as they needed to wait longer durations for the signals to change.

Finding fault with the officials and elected representatives for not taking any steps to ease traffic congestions in the city, Mr. Subba Raju said that there was neither a bypass road nor a ring road for the city.

Referring to the proposed flyover project at Benz Circle, he said that it would be a permanent solution for the traffic problem at one of the most important junctions of the city.

“The flyover will also ease the traffic on the National Highway No. 5,” he observed.

Party leaders Donepudi Sankar, Palla Surya Rao and others were present.
