Congress MLAs resent ‘threats' to Andhra employees

August 01, 2011 02:37 pm | Updated 02:37 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Congress MLAs from Krishna district have issued a stern warning to the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) leaders against any attempt to cause harm to Andhra employees in Telangana region on the pretext of their proposed ‘Sakala Janula Samme' after Monday.

“In a democracy like ours, there is no place for threats and intimidation. The Telangana employees are free to fight for their rights but they have no right to bring pressure on Andhra employees in that region to become part of their stir,” Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and Pedana MLA Jogi Ramesh told reporters here on Sunday.

Mr. Vishnu said any harm caused to Andhra leaders or employees would not be tolerated.

“People of Andhra will not be silent spectators to such injustices meted out to their brothers,” he said.

He condemned the violence resorted to by Telangana activists in their pursuit for statehood.
