Leaders and activists of the Congress Party celebrated the introduction of the SC/ST Sub-Plan Bill in the State Legislative Assembly at the city Congress Office, the Andhra Ratna Bhavan, here on Sunday.

The Congressmen burst fire crackers and exchanged sweets to celebrate what they called a special occasion. Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal set off crackers and exchanged sweets with working president Meesala Rajeswara Rao, president Adapa Siva Nagendra Rao, former Minister Devineni Rajasekhar, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, and former city president Kadiyala Butchibabu.

Addressing the media, the MP said that the SC/ST Sub-Plan was a great leap forward and the Congress Party had come up with it because only the Congress was concerned about the dalits.

It all began with Indira Gandhi distributing land to the Dalits in the 1970s.

After the Congress party came back to power in Andhra Pradesh after TDP rule the party was doing everything for the dalits that the TDP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not done, they said.

After this term there would be nothing left for Mr. Naidu to do because the Congress would provide the dalits everything they needed.

Mr. Rajagopal said that the people had no confidence in Mr.Naidu because he let them down very badly in the past.
