‘Cong. alone can give special status’

: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president N. Tulasi Reddy said the Bharatiya Janata Party would not give the Special Category Status (SCS) or the benefits listed in the Andhra Pradesh Re-Organisation Bill because it did not have any “votes or seats” in the State.

He said the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress despite their tall talk would not be able to get the State the benefits because as regional parties they could never gain power at the Centre. The Congress, on the other hand, would not only grant SCS but also implement the Re-organisation Act completely.

Mr Tulasi Reddy said all political parties had finally come to the inescapable conclusion that both SCS and benefits of the Re-organisation Act were necessary for the proper development of the State. He said that the only option before the people was to vote the Congress to power.
