Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday expressed confidence that the Centre would grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Naidu declared that the State would be turned into a logistics hub for Southeast Asian countries. Ports and airports would be developed and the expansion of Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam would be taken up. Besides a new Greenfield airport would be built at Vizag, he added.

Mr. Naidu said he would be meeting Mr. Narendra Modi in New Delhi on December 7. He would also be attending a meeting of Chief Ministers convened by the Centre to discuss the future body to replace Planning Commission.

Regarding disputes between A.P. and TS, he reiterated his willingness to sit and sort out the matters across the table. Telangana would be given power once A.P. attained surplus position, he said.
