Mild tension prevailed at the construction site of Kankadurga Flyover near VMC Headwater Works at Bhavanipuram on Saturday after an iron frame made for flyover column almost collapsed. According to information, the tall iron mesh erected to build the 21st concrete column over it lacked support and crumbled down all of a sudden even as its base was fixed to the ground.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as there is no movement of people near the place of incident.

District Collector Babu A. arrived at the spot and inquired with the engineers of Soma Enterprise Ltd., the contractor of the flyover work. Engineers told the Collector that they actually raised the frame to test its strength.
