Responding to a news item published in The Hindu on Wednesday ‘ >University status for city colleges still a distant dream ’, PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science Principal M.V.N. Padma Rao has agreed that it takes some time for the colleges to achieve it. At the same time he also said that as a principal of the college he was one among the representatives of 45 colleges that were invited by the MHRD to attend a meeting to discuss the issues related to the scheme of autonomous colleges, held in New Delhi on October 7. “In the sidelight of the meeting there was an informal discussion on RUSA’s plan to give university status to a select 45 colleges in the country during the 12th Plan. The process has just begun and there is a long way to go,” he said.
Mr. Padma Rao also said that going by the pre-requisites given by the RUSA, the P.B. Siddhartha has a good chance.
