The dissemination of knowledge on latest advances in medical sciences through continuing medical education (CME) to medical professionals and postgraduate students by corporate hospitals was lauded by Dr N.T.R. University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor T.Ravi Raju.
Inaugurating a symposium on “An approach to Cardiac Emergencies” conducted by the Cardiology Department of Sentini Hospital here on Sunday Dr Ravi Raju said that dissemination of knowledge should be taken up as an obligation.
He said that he had started the nephrology department in King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam and it was mainly through his efforts that the Andhra Pradesh Government started the free dialysis centres for the benefit of the economically weak. Twelve centres had been started in the State including one in Vijayawada.
Dr Ravi Raju also emphasised the popularisation of cadaver donation. He said changes were necessary in the medical curriculum to finetune it to the rapid advances in medical technology.
SVIMS cardiology head D Rajasekhar, Guntur Medical College Assistant Professor Shaik Moulali, Visakhapatnam Manipal Hospital cardiologist D M R Jagannadha Raju, Hyderabad Yashoda cardiologist R Ravikanth and Sri Sri Holistics Hospital electro physiologist V.Ramachandraiah, Sentini physicians P.V.Siva Prasad and Padma Movva presented papers in the symposium. Sentini medical director K.Raja Gopal Rao, and marketing manager M Pratap Reddy were present.
