: Saying there is total confusion in the public mind over works being executed for the Krishna Pushkarams and the money being spent for construction of various ghats and other infrastructure needed for it, the Congress has demanded that the State government clear the air by coming out with a White Paper.

Addressing the media at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Monday, Congress leader Malladi Vishnu said there were allegations that only 30 per cent of the proposed works would be completed. The government announced that the Kanakadurga flyover that would reduce the congestion at the foot of the Indrakeeladri Hill would be completed in time for the pushkarams, but it was nowhere in sight. Huge amount was being spent for the illumination of the Prakasam Barrage without any tenders or transparency. Hundreds of crores was being spent, but there was nothing that would be use for the devotees.

The government was repeating the mistakes it had committed during the Godavari Pushkarams.

The Krishna River traverses through in other districts and places, but Vijayawada was being projected as the single destination, Mr. Vishnu said.
