For the first time, the Vijayawada police arranged a ‘green corridor’ for transportation of organs of a brain dead patient.
The patient, T. Manikanta (22), who suffered critical injuries in a road accident, was declared clinically dead at NRI Hospital in Mangalagiri in Guntur district.
Ograns flown to Chennai
A team of doctors from Chennai shifted the organs of Manikanta on Friday, after taking consent from his family members. The organs were flown to Chennai from Gannavaram Airport. The city police arranged a ‘green corridor’ to prevent any traffic problem for shifting the organs. The East Zone made elaborate arrangements for shifting the organs of the patient within in the minimum period. “Almost, for the first time the Vijayawada Police provided a ‘green corridor’ for transportation of human organs. We kept the roads free for nearly 25 km on the highway, and we feel it is a human service. Apart from the usual duties, police are ready to render service in exceptional services,” said City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao.
